This place has easily become one of our new favorite places to go. My wife ordered the yellowfin Tuna Poke Bowl, which she could not stop raving about. If anything, it has a nice creamy taste to it. I ordered the Spicy Tan Tan Ramen, which was delicious! It isn't spicy in any way whatsoever, which is good since it is huge bowl of ramen. He ended up being our server and was truly amazing!Įverything was delicious! It did take a while for our food to come out, but since it is a very small kitchen with a 2 man team cooking, I understand. While we waited, we talked to one of the servers, Dylan, who walked us through their ramen and Poke bowl menu, which was extremely helpful since we had our minds made up by the time we sat down. between 20 - 24 people or so, needless to say, they had a wait going on. My wife and I had been wanting to try Little Big Diner for a long time since we are both fans of ramen, so we decided to give it a try!įirst of all, it is small! I would say that the restaurant can hold. They've been around for three or so years, I just found out about it through a local review, so I'll look to make up for lost time. If you pick the right time or don't mind the wait, this is worth a stop. Boston and surrounding areas just don't have that many ramen spots, but you'll find them in big cities like LA and New York. In Japan, ramen is very popular, a student and working peoples favorite because it's affordable and a complete meal. We got out of there for about $70 which is a little high, but I look forward to going back. It's made in Kyoto so it's the real deal. The Bushido sake was light, fruity and well balanced. This is surprising as a few of the items were right on the money in terms of authenticity. The food here is excellent and despite the Japanese choices offered, no Japanese were working there or have ever been to Japan according to a member of the family that works there. We ordered a papaya salad (didn't see much else in the salad department), a glass of cold sake called Bushido, an Honest Weight draft saison, a tuna poke bowl and a vegetarian spicy miso. And it worked, we got a table for two right away, but they were still full minus one table. Mondays & Tuesdays in the restaurant business are known for being slow. was about 45 minutes, so when Tuesday at around 9:20 pm rolled around I said let's try now. This is a very small restaurant & you can leave your name and number and wander around Newton Center, or come back another time, because it'll be a long wait if you hang out there waiting for a table.
